Note: Vietnam and the U.S. have reached agreement on the protocol to be used as a bilateral agreement on the adoption of Vietnamese children by U.S. citizens and adoptions have resumed.
In 2003, U.S. citizens adopted approximately 382 children from Vietnam. Children available for adoption include infants from 6 months of age, older and special needs children; more boys than girls. The children reside in orphanages.
